Evening Rouvy Ride
Переглядів 58Місяць тому
Being a fulltime carer, it's rare now to get a chance for outdoor cycling but, thanks to the marvellous technology of the Rouvy App, I can continue cycling indoors, with a choice of routes from all over the world. This evening I tried Madagascar.

After a cardiac procedure some weeks ago, I'm back on the road again. Today, taking advantage of the mini Indian Summer, I set off along the canal from Fisherstown to Rathangan
Rouvy Norwegian Fjiord

Can't find the time to get outdoors these days but thanks to the marvel that is Rouvy I still manage to maintain a minimum level of fitness. This morning I was able to cycle along Norwegian fjiords which in many places was not unlike the west of Ireland
Canal Walk

It's been 8 months since I last uploaded a video, the reason being that my Dad became very ill at the start of last Summer. Since October of last year I've given up work to devote all of my time to taking care of him, so all outdoor cycling has come to an end for the foreseeable future. I hope to get back to the great outdoors again at some stage but for now my priority is helping my Dad with h...

Katherine Hepburn said in The Rainmaker, “ Madagascar is an island in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Mozambique “. Thanks to modern technology you were cycling 9,515 kms. from Portlaoise but you were always home.
Beautiful scenery !!!
It’s wonderful to see you back on the road again, Ronnie, and doing so well ! I hope your father is well, too ❣️
Make one for this year. If able too
❤ It’s great to be old…every moment is a treasure. It’s great to have a huge heart full of love for old people ❣️.
In this day of Saint Mullins, congratulations (17 de julho 2024)
Great video thanks for sharing can't wait to get on it
Great vid, hopefully hitting the Connor’s pass myself next month to do a UA-cam vid on it. Looked a fantastic spin 🤙
Done it many times and it never loses it's WOW factor. Last time I was 3 months off my 60th birthday. It gets harder every year. Enjoy!!
Dads birth place. Love it
I did this in the 80s. Brutal
My home village
It’s great to finally hear from you, Ronnie. We were hoping that you were alright. Your father is a wonderful example to us all, and he is getting the best care in the world from you. Prayers for both of you 🙏🏽❣️.
Hi great video.. Myself and couple of friends have done the canals and old rail trail to Athlone. Looking at the barrow way to Carlow for our next cycle.. How much tougher is the none paved trail? Couple of us on road bikes couple on hybrids.. Thanks
Hi Pete! I've not been cycling since early last year so I'm not sure how much of the "way" has been paved since I did it last. I think when you leave the canal behind at Athy you'll encounter most of the unpaved sections along the river to Carlow. I used an Orbea gravel bike (38mm tyres) which was just fine for every surface I encountered. The one thing I didn't properly allow for was time. It takes a lot longer to cover a set distance unpaved than it would on tarmac. For example, when I did the section from Carlow to Goresbridge my moving time was 1:39:00 (18kph avg.) but I returned by road which took me 00:51:09 (30kph avg.). I wouldn't take a roadbike on any of the unpaved sections.
Great video, thanks
Do it twice
Such beautiful scenery!
The is old
Have walked these roads several years ago. Amazing!
I'm moving to a dense city soon and have my eye on Rouvy. This was an exceptionally helpful video to show how it's used on the daily. Thank you for taking the time to make this, Ronnie.
1:50-2:04 Timahoe looks wonderful ! Thank you, Ronnie ! ( I’m late commenting…I didn’t get notified ).
Well done…beautiful scenery…great shot 1:44…the burger looks delicious 🍔…and beautiful 🐈.
🌴☀️Spectacular, breathtaking,and may I add…stunning 🏖️. Thank you, Ronnie !
🌴 ‘An Irishman Abroad ‘ ! 4:48 …cheers 🍹 !
Oh, my goodness, Ronnie, I’m really enjoying your holiday ! What wonderful, exotic, locations, and the music is so atmospheric ☀️.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday 🏖️. ( Portlaoise weather. Monday…-1 to 9 degrees Celsius 🌧️. Majorca ….14 to 24 🌤️. )
Nice video , i experience the same here, video freezes during a workout never had that problem before it kills the fun off it all @Rouvy there is work to do !
Great video, thank you for sharing!
In spite of the technical difficulties it was a spectacular ride ! Bravo, Ronaldo !
Dear old IE110754’s artistic legacy lives on through you, Ronnie ! What a beautiful compilation and loving tribute to a life spent gliding magnificently over ‘that dear land across the Irish Sea ‘☘️. There is a saying, “Behind every good drone is a good man “. Well done, both of you ! ( P. S. Timahoe at 2:50 !!! ).
Great footage well done.
Great scenes and quality footage even in windy weather..👏☘
Well, if that was to be her last flight she went out in a blaze of glory…working right up to the end…she even filmed her own demise. What a courageous, grand old lady…there are no words…heartfelt condolences 🛩️💥🪦.
Great video at a lovely scenic spot along the canal. Apart from the dramatic music and visual scenes, methinks IE110754 is neatly stored and will entrance viewers in the future...👏👏☘
Nope...It's dead as a Dodo
Great video. I'd tried Rouvy a few years ago but never really settled in. I've been in and out of Zwift, but prefer a more realistic looking ride. Right now I'm on Wahoo Systm which includes RGT but would like a little more variety. I think I'll give Rouvy another chance. Thanks for the videos they've been really helpful in making a decision. We are of similar age. We should create a 60ish cycling club. Gotta stick together before we all fall over or get lost. Haha
Thank you, Ronnie, for sharing!🤓💛
I think you used this on the first video of yours that I ever saw, when you showcased so beautifully the village of Timahoe ☘️.
Nice job, thinking of making a video of this myself some day. Love both the Greenway and Copper Coast
Omg. useful video-work~ wanna more views?. see you later-The!
Looking good
These are beautiful images. I don’t think the flooding is causing much hardship ( Google says “ the flood risk for the next 5 days is very low “. ). Thank you, Ronnie, for taking us there. “ Water was the first mirror, drinking images of beauty, showing their wrinkled future in the mildest breeze “. Dennis O’Driscoll. ☘️
Delighted I came across your video. Been looking at doing some bike packing around Kerry this year and wanting to keep off busy roads as much as possible. But didn't realize there was a viable cyclable off-road trail that cuts across the peninsula like that. Fantastic! Assuming that dog didn't attack! 😀
Glad you liked it James. T'was a relatively short spin of 37km or so. Here is a link to the route map. ridewithgps.com/trips/73405290
@@ronaldricejr great to have the map Ronnie, cheers. It looks like there was a bit of hike-a-bike involved on the descent into Inch? Nothing too strenuous I hope (for a bike full of bags)?
@@JamesCorbett Yep there was on section near the end where I had to walk. I wouldn't bring a heavily laden bike there. Better of stay on the road from where the dog was.
Aww, Ronnie…THANK YOU for one last look around Timahoe for 2022. You even went near the old school ( 2:11 ) where I spent 5 years of my life …what a treat ! This is so lovely. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2023. I’m looking forward to travelling with you in the coming year as you revisit many old familiar places, and take us to many new ones. You really are an excellent host and travel guide. Thank you again. 💚🇨🇮🇦🇺❤.
You're welcome Christina. I watched the fireworks at Sydney Harbour on TV while having my lunch, before setting off on my spin. So, while I was cycling around Timahoe still back in 2022, you were already celebrating 2023 down under. Happy New Year to you and all your family :)
@@ronaldricejr Thank you Ronnie ✨⚡️⭐️💫💥🌟
Good review video of Rouvy. Thanks for making it as I'm comparing it to Zwift which is different in some ways. How do you tell the difference between real people and bots? Is it the number after the name?
Rather than a thumbnail photo beside the name they have something that looks like a Pacman (if you're old enough to remember that ancient video game)
I think the bots do not have a numbered shield next to their name plus they (Emma, Will & Peter) appear in every ride. I am just using the free trials that many of the apps offer before deciding which to settle on.
Thank you for this lovely gift, Ronnie ✨. The music is strange and beautiful ✨. I love the rainbow that came out to greet you. 1:42 ✨💚.
Unfortunately before the rainbow came the rain, and it came down in buckets. I was thoroughly soaked.
@@ronaldricejr Thank you. We appreciate all the your hard work and suffering to bring us these moments of joy 🌤🌈⛈
Timahoe twice 💚.
🎂Happy Birthday, Ronnie ! 🍺☘️.
Nicely done.
Happy birthday buddy!
Happy birthday Ronan ,have a good one.
Yet another fantastic descriptive cycle video of local towns and hinterlands...👏👏☘
